Mckibbin Joins Rahm's Liv Golf Team in Surprise Move

Tom McKibbin to Join Jon Rahm's LIV Golf Team

The 22-year-old Northern Ireland golfer, Tom McKibbin, is making a surprising move to join Jon Rahm's LIV Golf team in a lucrative multi-year deal. McKibbin secured a PGA Tour card in November by finishing in the top 10 players without a card in the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai.

Switch to Legion XIII Team

Instead of pursuing the PGA Tour, McKibbin has opted to take the final spot in Rahm's Legion XIII team, alongside two-time major winner Rahm, England's Tyrrell Hatton, and the USA's Caleb Surratt. This decision makes him the second player from Northern Ireland to transition to LIV Golf, following Graeme McDowell's move in 2022.

Upcoming Events

McKibbin is currently participating in the Team Cup event in Dubai and is slated to compete in the DP World Tour's Dubai Desert Classic next week. Additionally, he has qualified for this year's Open Championship at Royal Portrush. Having turned professional in April 2021, McKibbin clinched his first DP World Tour victory in June 2023 at the Porsche European Open in Germany and narrowly missed out on another win at the Italian Open.

Season Commencement

The LIV Golf season is scheduled to kick off in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 6 February, marking a new chapter in McKibbin's promising golf career.
