The German push athlete for Olympic bobsleigh champion Francesco Friedrich tested positive for a banned stimulant during a World Cup two-man event, as reported by the International Testing Agency.
Simon Wulff, known as the fourth-fastest German sprinter over 100 meters, was found to have methylhexaneamine in his system after partnering with Friedrich to secure victory at a two-man bobsleigh World Cup competition in Altenberg, Germany.
The ITA has classified the substance as specified, allowing Wulff to continue competing while the case is ongoing.
Although Wulff was set to participate with Friedrich in St. Moritz, Switzerland, he is likely to be excluded from the German team. The 24-year-old athlete, previously a track runner at Northwestern State University, had joined Friedrich's team with aspirations for the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Olympics.
Friedrich, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in both two-man and four-man bobsleigh, faces no immediate disciplinary action from the ITA.
As the case unfolds, the implications for Wulff and Friedrich remain uncertain. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
